SolarCity Opens New Massachusetts Operations Center, Seeks Local Hires

Company allows local businesses and homeowners to install solar for free and pay less for solar electricity than utility power

MARLBOROUGH, Mass.--()--SolarCity®, a national leader in clean energy services, has opened a new 15,000-square-foot operations center in Marlborough that will bring the area new jobs and help Massachusetts businesses, non-profit organizations and homeowners save money through better energy options. SolarCity can currently offer many businesses and homeowners in Massachusetts the ability to pay 15-20 percent less for solar electricity than they pay for utility power. Governor Deval Patrick, Department of Energy Resources Commissioner Mark Sylvia, Senator James Eldridge, Energy and Environmental Affairs Secretary Richard K. Sullivan and Marlborough Mayor Arthur Vigeant joined SolarCity to celebrate its expansion in the state.

“We have developed a nation-leading clean energy agenda because it is the right thing to do for our environment, our energy independence and our public health,” said Governor Patrick.

SolarCity has grown its Massachusetts workforce from 15 to 45 since September and is now hiring for additional open positions in Marlborough.
