BRAINTREE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--NEC Inc., a sales and marketing company, has announced that President Jim Rothermel will be traveling on an international mission with Operation Smile in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Rothermel’s participation in the mission comes on the heels of several company fundraisers for Operation Smile, including a charity bowling event and a poker tournament.
Operation Smile is a not-for-profit medical service organization that provides cleft lip and palate repair surgeries to children worldwide. To date, Operation Smile has provided reconstructive surgery to more than 150,000 children and young adults in more than 50 countries.
“Operation Smile is an amazing organization that includes dedicated medical volunteers who have provided free surgeries for children around the world,” said President Jim Rothermel. “These surgeries give children a chance at life, and I’m so proud of NEC for making a real impact.”
During the week-long mission, Rothermel will help coordinate screenings, interact with the families, and assist in the recovery process.
“The opportunity to travel to Rio and be a part of something that’s so important is incredibly special to myself and my team,” said President Jim Rothermel. “We’ve all worked so hard to raise money for Operation Smile and the fact that I am able to really interact with these families is an opportunity of a lifetime.”
