CHATSWORTH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Image Entertainment, Inc. (OTCQB: DISK) recently purchased worldwide rights to the Amity Entertainment catalog boasting over 100 titles. The deal contains Jim Varney’s Ernest comedies as well as 50 feature films and almost 50 martial arts films. The announcement was made today by Ted Green, Image Chairman and CEO.
“The films included in the Amity Entertainment catalog will be a great addition to the Image library,” commented Green. “There’s a good mix of comedy, drama, suspense, horror and martial arts included and we are looking forward to releasing them across the various platforms including digital and broadcast.”

Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hanks, Jodie Foster, Robert DeNiro, Tatum O’Neal, Kim Basinger and Martin Sheen are only a few of the names included in the library. Highlights include Arch of Triumph (1985) starring Anthony Hopkins, Lesley-Anne Down, Donald Pleasance and Frank Finlay; The Baby Doll Murders (1992) featuring Jeff Kober, John Saxon and Bobby DiCicco; Desperate Men (1989) starring Ken Wahl, Judge Reinhold and Annie McEnroe; Frame Up (1990) with Wings Hauser, Dick Sargent and Francis Fisher; Good Idea (1975) a comedy starring John Candy, Stefanie Powers and Isaac Hayes; The Legend of Seven Golden Vampires (1974) with Peter Cushing and John Forbes-Robertson; Tom Hanks and Wendy Crewson star in the 1982 film Mazes and Monsters; Jodie Foster and John Lithgow head the 1986 drama Mesmerized; Obsession starring Richard Burton and Tatum O’Neal; WGA Award winner Power, Passion and Murder starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Hector Elizando; The Touch with Kevin Costner and Andra Millian: A Woman Accused starring Chad Everett and Barbara Hershey.
With nearly 50 titles in the martial arts category alone, the Amity Entertainment library includes films with the incomparable Bruce Lee (Enter the Dragon), Angelo Mao (Enter the Dragon) and Lieh Lo (Kill Bill Volume 2). The library includes four martial arts compilations as well.
