Amcom Software Acquires Critical Test Results Management Solution

  • IMCO Technologies’ solution fills customer need to address Joint Commission’s National Patient Safety Goal Requirements regarding timely delivery of critical test results
  • Will send results to ordering physicians quickly via integration with the Amcom system

MINNEAPOLIS--()--Amcom Software, Inc., a subsidiary of USA Mobility, Inc. (Nasdaq: USMO), today announced the acquisition of IMCO Technologies’ critical test results management suite. Now hospital customers can improve patient safety and caregiver productivity by streamlining the delivery of critical test results to ordering physicians. Amcom provides critical communication solutions to more than 900 hospitals. Many of these customers have requested this type of solution to meet the guidelines established by the Joint Commission in its National Patient Safety Goal Requirements.

Based in Pewaukee, Wis., the IMCO Technologies team has developed extensive expertise in the critical test results management space after more than 20 years in business. Amcom and its customers will greatly benefit from the addition of the staff’s tremendous experience and innovation in this area. The newly renamed Amcom Critical Test Results Management solution brings together once-disparate pieces of information essential to the effective communication of test results to the clinicians who ordered them. In particular, the solution will integrate the critical test results functionality from IMCO with Amcom’s suite of communication workflow solutions, including smartphone messaging. The solution supports traceable, closed-loop test results information that empowers physicians to provide better care for their patients.

The Joint Commission and other healthcare authorities have identified that failures and delays in the communication of critical test results are a major problem for patient safety. Inefficient handling of critical test results also contributes to higher costs of care for compromised patients as well as increased risk of litigation and higher expenditures for regulatory compliance.

“The addition of critical test results management enables us to offer more communication solutions in clinical settings, a focal point of our strategy,” said Vincent D. Kelly, President and Chief Executive Officer of USA Mobility. “This solution addresses a clear customer and market need by improving patient safety and helping physicians do their jobs more efficiently every day.”

“We have established a culture of open, interactive discussion with our customers, and many have identified the need to improve critical test results handling,” said Chris Heim, President, Amcom Software. “We’re pleased to be able to integrate this capability with their existing communications infrastructures for the good of patient care.”
