DUBLIN--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dublin - Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/bzgtb4/2011_united_states) has announced the addition of Frost & Sullivan's new report "2011 United States Security in Retail Physical Security Focus: The Present and the Future of the Physical Security Technologies in Retail" to their offering.
This study's research objective was to gauge the usage of physical security technologies within U.S. retail chains with at least five stores. Data was collected in August 2011 using Web-based survey that sampled 179 United States managers. To help minimize threats such as shoplifting and theft, analog video surveillance technologies and access control systems, specifically keypads and card readers, are most often used within retail premises. Integration of security systems within the retail environment is fairly advanced. Security budgets either increased or remained the same from 2010 to 2011.
Executive Summary:
The majority of retailers are familiar with all the surveyed physical security and building technologies, especially with video surveillance systems, intrusion detection systems, remote monitoring systems, and access control systems.
Shoplifting and other risks related to theft are the major challenge retailers must face. To help minimize these threats, access control systems, specifically keypads and card readers, and analog video surveillance technologies are most often used within retail premises. Yet, short-term growth in other physical security technologies may be seen within the internet protocol (IP)/network video surveillance technology and electronic article surveillance (EAS) markets.
Integration of security systems within the retail environment is fairly advanced. Specifically, the integration of video surveillance and fire detection systems are most prevalent.
Overall, security budgets either increased or remained the same from 2010 to 2011. Budgets over the next five years are expected to either increase or remain the same.
