PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cascade Energy, Inc. (www.cascadeenergy.com), the industrial energy efficiency experts, today announced an agreement with Puget Sound Energy (PSE) to design, manage and deliver the Washington state energy utility’s new Industrial System Optimization Program (ISOP). The program objective is to help industrial customers trim 12 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) in electricity use over a 22-month period.
“Puget Sound Energy has ambitious energy efficiency program goals,” said Marcus Wilcox, president of Cascade Energy. “With the Industrial System Optimization Program, PSE is offering innovative solutions that drive low-cost energy savings for their industrial customers.”
To achieve ISOP targets, an experienced team of Cascade Energy engineers and technicians will visit participating utility customers to identify low- and no-cost opportunities for electric energy savings. The optimization will usually be performed on energy-intensive subsystems—such as refrigeration, compressed air and pumping systems—an entire facility or even a collection of facilities. Working collaboratively with on-site staff during a multi-day effort, the Cascade Energy team will develop a detailed summary of practical recommendations to improve efficiency and operations. Incentives offered through the program will co-fund improvements as well as reward associated energy savings.
“PSE selected Cascade Energy for its track record in delivering proven energy and cost savings through industrial efficiency programs,” said Rick Rosenkilde, PSE’s program manager and business energy management engineer. “We expect our industrial clients will reap both monetary and performance benefits based on Cascade’s insight and expertise.”
The projected 12 million kWh in energy savings through ISOP is equivalent to the average annual electricity use of more than 1,000 single-family homes in the U.S.
Cascade Energy and Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) were recognized earlier this year for the delivery of BPA’s Energy Smart Industrial program, which logged more than 40 average megawatts (MWa) in verified energy savings over a two-year period and also exceeded energy-savings targets by more than 13 MWa during the same span. The partnership garnered accolades from the Association of Energy Services Professionals for the design, implementation and evaluation of a “best in class” program.
In addition to contracts with PSE and BPA, Cascade Energy provides on-going management of other demand-side programs sponsored by Energy Trust of Oregon and PacifiCorp.
