PCTEL Unveils SeeGull® EX+ Scanning Receiver at LTE Latin America Conference

6-Band Scanner Expands SeeGull EX Family of Wireless Network Scanners for Multi-Technology Networks

RIO DE JANEIRO--()--PCTEL, Inc. (NASDAQ: PCTI), a leader in antenna and scanning receiver solutions, announced today the release of the SeeGull® EX+ six-band scanning receiver. Based on PCTEL’s leading EX platform, the EX+ is a precision-calibrated tool for measuring the coverage and signal quality of wireless cellular networks. With simultaneous measurements across multiple technologies, the EX+ makes it easier to baseline and improve RF performance across a variety of network protocols.

In response to growing user demand for ubiquitous wireless coverage and high data rates, wireless network operators around the world are upgrading and expanding their networks with new technologies such as LTE. However, LTE is not replacing 2G and 3G technologies. Instead, LTE rollouts are leading to overlaid 2G/3G/4G networks. Furthermore, each technology in a network is frequently deployed on more than one operating band. Operators want a single tool that matches this increase in the number of technologies and bands. PCTEL developed the EX+ to address this industry requirement and deliver the proven performance of the SeeGull EX family of scanners with expanded combinations of bands and technologies for today’s complex wireless networks.

“For more than four years, the SeeGull EX has been a key tool for operators as they roll out, expand, and optimize their wireless networks,” said Jeff Miller, PCTEL's Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Now, the EX+ will help operators upgrade and optimize both indoor and outdoor multi-technology networks. Not only will operators be able to use the EX+ to upgrade and expand LTE/WCDMA/GSM or LTE/CDMA/EV-DO networks, but a single EX+ can also be used to test both TD-LTE and FD-LTE,” added Miller.

PCTEL will demonstrate its new SeeGull EX+ scanner along with its entire portfolio of scanning receiver products at the LTE Latin America 2012 Conference, April 17-18, 2012 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The SeeGull EX+ is fully compliant with 3GPP and 3GPP2 specifications and is currently available directly from PCTEL or through its OEM resellers.
