Global social impact organizations and investors connect in Swiss lakefront city

Partnering for Global Impact 2012

ZURICH & LUGANO, Switzerland--()--EBD Group, the leading partnering firm for the life science industry, will hold the first Partnering for Global Impact® conference in Lugano, Switzerland, July 9–10, 2012 at the Lugano Convention Centre. Partnering for Global Impact provides an innovative forum to partner, identify and generate investment and funding opportunities and provide an effective platform for collaboration between “impact” investors, entrepreneurs and philanthropists that are driven to deliver positive change in communities around the world.

Lugano was selected as the premier location for Partnering for Global Impact based on its central European location and its reputation as a center of commerce. Located on Lake Lugano in southern Switzerland, Lugano is known as the third most important financial center and banking business hub in Switzerland, and is considered a hot spot by celebrities who refer to it as the Monte Carlo of Switzerland.

“I am delighted that Lugano will host Partnering for Global Impact,” said Giorgio Giudici, Mayor of Lugano. “As the economic center of the region, Lugano has much to offer to the global social investment community, and our financial institutions are poised to assist with investment deals in any way they can. We also hope that the natural beauty of Lugano is inspiring to the conference delegates who are working to change our world for the better.”

Partnering for Global Impact was conceived to foster innovation in global philanthropy by connecting investors with forward-thinking social impact organizations who are inspired to create sustainable communities through the use of traditional business principles. Companies with a clear social purpose in one of five key sectors including education, healthcare, housing, financial services and water are encouraged to apply.

The conference is intended to promote partnering investment opportunities that are difficult to obtain from mainstream capital markets or traditional investors, enabling big and small social impact projects to get off the ground. Powered by partneringONE®, EBD Group's sophisticated, web-based partnering system, the event enables delegates to efficiently identify, meet and get partnerships started with companies across the global social impact space, from large social impact organizations and community projects to financiers and social finance investors. Information on the conference can be found at http://www.ebdgroup.com/pgi/index.php. The deadline for presenting companies to submit applications is April 27, 2012.
