Among the top five global coal producing nations, four belonged to APAC, with China contributing 45% towards global production, the US 13%, India 9%, Australia 6% and Indonesia 5%. The region's coal production is expected to increase at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 4.1% to reach approximately 7 billion metric tons by 2020.
