BOSTON--()--Jonah Lehrer's Imagine: How Creativity Works will debut in the number one spot on The New York Times Bestseller list for nonfiction on April 8. The blockbuster hit swept The New York Times lists this week, coming in at number one for nonfiction on the Print Hardcover, Print Hardcover & Paperback Combined, E-Book, and Combined Print & E-Book lists.

“It’s been a privilege and an honor to publish all three of Jonah’s books and participate in the explosive arc of his success,” said Gary Gentel, President of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt's Trade and Reference Division. “With each book his audience has broadened, culminating in the achievement of a number one best-seller.”

HMH published Lehrer's other two books, the bestselling How We Decide and his first acclaimed work, Proust Was a Neuroscientist. The 30-year-old author has been called “a popular science prodigy” by The New York Times and was hailed “an important new thinker” by The Los Angeles Times. About Imagine, Malcolm Gladwell wrote, “Jonah Lehrer’s new book confirms what his fans have known all along — that he knows more about science than a lot of scientists and more about writing than a lot of writers.”

Shattering the myths of muses, higher powers and even creative “types” in Imagine, Lehrer demonstrates that creativity is not a single gift possessed by the lucky few. It’s a variety of distinct thought processes that we can all learn to use more effectively. It’s an exhilarating look at how we can all learn to be creative — and make our schools, companies, cities and cultures more innovative.

Jonah Lehrer is a contributing editor at Wired magazine and a frequent contributor to The New Yorker. He writes the Head Case column for The Wall Street Journal and regularly appears on WNYC’s Radiolab. He is the author of The New York Times number-one bestseller Imagine, as well as Proust Was a Neuroscientist and How We Decide. He graduated from Columbia University and attended Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar.
