BOSTON--()--Siemens Hearing Instruments, Inc. today announced XCEL — the new generation of its clinically proven* BestSound™ Technology. XCEL accelerates hearing aid acceptance by optimally balancing speech intelligibility and sound quality for each individual hearing aid wearer. Five Siemens hearing aid models feature the new XCEL technology: the discreet Pure® XCEL and Pure® XCEL Carat, the Motion® XCEL models SX and P, and the brand new Eclipse™ XCEL — a revolutionary deep-fit CIC hearing aid that is nearly invisible, extremely comfortable and entails a simple, deep-fit impression procedure.

“First impressions count the most with new hearing aid wearers,” said Scott Davis, CEO, Siemens Hearing Instruments, Inc. “Achieving a good first fit is critical to ensuring wearer adoption and satisfaction. The best experience for hearing aid wearers requires a perfect combination of sound quality and effective audibility—what Siemens has coined Soundability. We’ve achieved this preferred balance with XCEL.”

Siemens also announced today Eclipse XCEL, an innovative, deep-fit CIC hearing aid. Thanks to its custom shell and deep positioning, Eclipse minimizes typical occlusion effects and offers a far more natural hearing experience than traditional CICs. Its placement close to the eardrum ensures the most effective transmission of sound, providing brilliant sound quality. Eclipse features a flexible soft dome that allows a safe, comfortable and deeper placement in the sensitive bony area of the ear canal. Eclipse XCEL is available in the 701 and 301 XCEL levels.

“Eclipse is virtually invisible and delivers beautiful, natural sound,” Davis said. “It’s the first solution that provides the benefits of a deep-fit hearing aid using the simple, safe, standard impression methods hearing care professionals employ every day. With Eclipse, professionals can offer an advanced custom product with greater comfort and without the occlusion effect—providing a clear differentiation from the myriad of standard offerings in the market.”

In addition to Eclipse XCEL, the XCEL platform, developed within Siemens Healthcare’s initiative Agenda 2013, debuts in four other Siemens hearing instruments at the 701, 501 and 301 XCEL performance levels:

Pure XCEL and Pure XCEL Carat offer the broadest RIC BTE fitting range and RIC receiver compatibility on the market, including HP and M receivers, wireless and rechargeability.

Motion XCEL SX and Motion XCEL P deliver fresh new designs, customizable controls and are equipped with Bluetooth wireless capabilities, rechargeability, telecoil and autophone.

Also announced today is VoiceLink, a new voice transmitter accessory that connects to a plug-in microphone and delivers sound via Siemens award-winning miniTek® using Bluetooth technology. VoiceLink is perfect for a speaker to place on a lapel while giving a presentation or while in a noisy environment. The companion microphone allows the hearing aid wearer to enjoy every part of the spoken word within approximately 30 feet of the transmitter.

The new XCEL platform technology, hearing instruments and VoiceLink will be featured at the American Academy of Audiology’s AudiologyNOW! 2012 conference, March 28-31 in Boston. For more information, please visit the Siemens booth #1016 or www.usa.siemens.com/hearing.
