Monster Energy Searches for ‘Ultimate Intern’

Two Winners Will Each Receive a Compensation Package Worth More Than $15,000 and the Opportunity to Work with Athletes, Music Artists, and Celebrities at Major Events

CORONA, Calif.--()--In what is perhaps one of the nation’s most extensive online intern search contests ever, Monster Energy announces today the Monster Energy Ultimate Intern Search for two newly-created, positions-of-a-lifetime.

The Monster Energy Ultimate Intern Search will award two individuals the opportunity to win a compensation package worth more than $15,000 and the opportunity to work directly with athletes, music artists, celebrities, and Monster Energy staff at major national sports and entertainment events across America, including X-Games 18, the Vans Warp Tour 2012, and the Street League DC Pro Tour Fueled by Monster Energy during the summer of 2012.

As described in a series of online video invitations featuring Monster Energy-sponsored NASCAR drivers Kurt and Kyle Busch, FMX (Freestyle Motocross) Champion Jeremy “Twitch” Stenberg, Legendary Supercross Champion Jeremy McGrath, and Party-rock rising star Ricky “Wallpaper” Reed, consumers will submit a one-minute video to www.facebook.com/monsterenergy explaining why they should be selected to be the “Ultimate Intern.” Fans can view and vote for video submissions by visiting www.facebook.com/monsterenergy, or http://ultimateintern.monsterenergy.com (for mobile access).

“Monster Energy’s intern program is a cool opportunity for anyone,” said Kyle Busch. “Who wouldn’t want to work with such an edgy brand, traveling the country, working at the nation’s biggest events with athletes, rock stars, and celebs, and having the time of their life?”

The first 250 contestants to submit their videos will receive a SWAG package worth more than $100 featuring merchandise from Monster Energy, Skull Candy’s multiple award winning FIX ear buds, and DC Clothing, including a DC backpack, and t-shirts or caps.

Entry Details

Submissions for The Monster Energy Ultimate Intern Search begin on April 9, 2012 and end on June 10, 2012. Voting for entrants at www.facebook.com/monsterenergy begins May 14, 2012 and ends June 10, 2012. Winners will be announced on June 22, 2012. The two-month internships begin on June 25, 2012 and end on August 24, 2012.

Voting and Final 6 Challenge:

Video entries will be voted on by Monster Energy’s Facebook fans and evaluated by a panel of Monster Energy judges. The judges will select six individuals to compete in the Final 6 Challenge, a week-long series of events in Southern California.

The panel of judges, comprised of Monster Energy–sponsored athletes and celebrities, will evaluate the performance of the Final 6 Challenge contestants and select the two Ultimate Intern winners. Winners of the Final 6 Challenge will be chosen based on their ability to ‘capture the essence’ of the Monster Energy lifestyle, to learn quickly, to think on their feet, and to make a valuable contribution to the Monster Energy team. Each of the Final 6 Challengers will receive a custom pair of Skullcandy’s Roc Nation Aviator headphones and a full SWAG bag of DC Clothing.

The Ultimate Internship:

During the internships, the two winners will rotate in various positions at Monster Energy. They will work closely with, and learn from, professional athletes, entertainers, and celebrities who are sponsored by Monster Energy, and other company representatives and partners. Winners will be exposed to various parts of the business and be responsible for creating and posting social media content about their experiences, provide unique insights about current customers, emerging customer segments, consumer trends, and other information relative to pop-culture.

Winners Special Prizes:

In addition to their compensation package from Monster Energy, the winners will receive Skullcandy Mix Masters, Fix in-ear headphones, and Vinyl Riser iPhone 4 cases. From Horizon Hobby and Team Losi Racing, they will also receive an XXX-SCT Short Course Truck that looks just like the ones being raced by the real full-scale short course racers Jeremy “Twitch” Stenberg and Jeremy McGrath.

“The Monster Energy Ultimate Intern Search was inspired by the hundreds of passionate stories shared with us by our customers at events and on our Facebook and Twitter sites,” said Sam Pontrelli, senior vice president of marketing. “It amazes us to learn how our customers find unique ways to harness their ‘Monster within’ that helps them visualize and achieve greatness in their own lives. We thought this internship program would help people share ideas and provide Monster Energy with the opportunity to identify the best possible interns for the company.”

Shawn Ireland, Horizon Hobby Vice President of Marketing, also shared his enthusiasm for the Monster Energy Ultimate Intern Search. “We are super excited to be part of the contest and the challenges that the interns will face. Monster Energy is a leader in partnering with the best names, and we are flattered to be working with them for this search.”
