NRI to Make Its Singapore Subsidiary as Core in Asia

Reinforcing its control by capital injection and giving the subsidiary a holding company function

TOKYO--()--Nomura Research Institute Ltd.(NRI) (TOKYO:4307), a leading provider of consulting services and system solutions, today announced its decision to change the name of Nomura Research Institute (Singapore) Private Limited (known as NRI Singapore) to Nomura Research Institute Asia Pacific Private Limited (NRI APAC). It also stated that it would inject additional funds for increase the capital. These measures are intended to accelerate the pace of strengthening and expanding business in the Asian region with NRI Singapore's definitive core function there.

Expanding its function and capital base as a holding company with its subsidiaries, NRI India & NRI Hong Kong.
NRI Singapore currently owns Nomura Research Institute India Pvt. Ltd., established in Nov. 2011 (headquartered in Gurgaon, Haryana, India. President Mr. Hisao Nakajima). It will also acquire whole stocks of Nomura Research Institute Hong Kong Limited (headquartered in Hong Kong: President Mr. Hiroyoshi Sawai) to make it a subsidiary, with the aim of reinforcing its function as a holding company in the light of the expansion of its role as the regional platform. The capital amount will be increased to 1.6 billion JPY in response to this development.

Establishing an integrated business support scheme in Asia
Shigeki Higashiyama, an NRI corporate vice president and division manager of the China & Asia Region Division, will remain as Chairman of NRI APAC. Also, NRI APAC will appoint a fully-fledged business administration manager to support business in the region, with the collaborative work between NRI and NRI APAC. We aim to attain efficient business administration through innovative trials such as merging the tasks each company carries out in its general affairs. We also aim to establish a scheme to facilitate implementation of our business strategies, including M&A and expansion of the basis of business operations in Asia.

Promoting corporate strength and business expansion in Chinese & Asian operations.
In its long-term management plan, VISION 2015, NRI sets out "growth and reinforcement of business in Asia" as one of its main tasks, emphasizing the importance of the overseas market. NRI APAC, as the core foothold in the Asian region, will improve the efficiency and agility of its business operations to enable further business expansion in the region.
