NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Citi has launched the first banking app designed exclusively for Kindle Fire. Advancing Citi’s evolution as the world’s premier digital bank, the Citibank® (Kindle Fire Edition) app provides U.S. consumers with a visually engaging, convenient way to track, analyze and plan their finances on the go.
The new app turns traditional rows of numbers into rich graphs and visual representations of consumer accounts and transactions. It was designed specifically to provide users a prime experience on the Kindle Fire’s seven-inch, full-color touchscreen. The insightful and intuitive user interface makes it easy for customers to check balances, manage cash flow, pay bills, transfer funds, access rewards and more.
“We’re thrilled to expand Citi’s mobile banking experience to Kindle Fire,” said Tracey Weber, Citi’s Managing Director for Consumer Internet and Mobile Banking in North America. “Based on the extraordinary download rates and highly positive consumer feedback that followed our initial tablet app launch, we know how much our customers value these tools. When Amazon launched Kindle Fire, we understood our customers would want a customized app that brings dynamic banking capabilities to this popular new tablet, and we worked swiftly to create one. With the bestselling Kindle Fire, we are offering our clients yet another way to easily manage their finances, wherever they are and whenever they want.”
In addition to being Citi’s first app for a tablet running on the Android operating system, it is also the first app from a bank to have been built exclusively for Kindle Fire with every component, graphic, touch action, button and slider customized to the tablet’s modified operating system, form factor, screen size and resolution. It is this degree of adaptation to the specific requirements that allowed Citi’s app to become the first “(Kindle Fire Edition)” app in the Finance section of the Amazon Appstore for Android.
Like Citi’s first tablet app, Citibank (Kindle Fire Edition) provides not only a fresh visual interface but also a host of new interactive features.
New way of banking – More than just an account management tool, the app allows consumers to more deeply engage with their experience, from basic banking to more in-depth financial management. Advanced features allow users to view information and take actions that will make managing their finances easier, including:
- Plan cash outflows with the help of a unique interactive chart of past and future payments and transfers
- Analyze personal spending habits through automatically generated, customizable charts of payee spending
- Compare personal spending habits with general consumer data, filtering by location, age group, income bracket and purchase category
Access to resources – Citibank (Kindle Fire Edition) offers access to resources and information that help users manage their financial lives, including direct access to continually updated content from Women & Co., a service of Citibank.
Real-time customer service – Consumers can also use the app to reach customer service directly. Citi is the only major U.S. bank to offer direct access to its Twitter customer support option via its tablet apps.
Mobile Check Deposit and Citibank Popmoney®
Citi today also announced two other major, new mobile banking advancements: Mobile Check Deposit and Citibank Popmoney. With the Citi Mobile (SM) app, Mobile Check Deposit enables consumers to use their iPhone®, iPod touch® or Android™ device to deposit checks, wherever they are. Mobile app users just need to sign the check, take photos of the front and back, and submit them for verification using the app. Citibank Popmoney enables users to send money wherever they are through the Citi Mobile app to people they have set up as payees on Citibank Online.
Citibank (Kindle Fire Edition), Mobile Check Deposit and Citibank Popmoney are the latest in a series of digital advancements Citi has made over the past 12 months. Recent developments include a new mobile banking platform being rolled out across the globe, click to call/chat via Twitter, the new Citibank Online, the ThankYou® Point Sharing App, and Citibank for iPad®, which independent research firm Forrester Research, Inc. highlighted in a January 2012 report entitled “Case Study: Citibank’s Tablet App Transforms the Digital Banking Experience.”
Citibank (Kindle Fire Edition) is available free from the Amazon Appstore for Android www.amazon.com/appstore . To learn more about Citi, please visit www.citi.com.
