AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Long-time public relations agency executive Jim Cox has formed James O. Cox, III LLC in Texas as a strategic communications advisory firm for leading companies.
Prior to forming the firm this year, Cox served as a senior vice president in the corporate practice for Hill & Knowlton for over a decade, worked as an executive vice president and head of the corporate practice in the US for GCI Group, and was an executive vice president for 13 years with Edelman Public Relations. He had a previous public relations firm – James Cox, Inc. – which was later sold to Edelman to create their first Texas office in Houston. Cox is originally from Houston and spent the last 18 years working in New York with Edelman, GCI and H&K before moving to the Austin area last year.
“While the new firm has clients including litigation work for a midwestern manufacturing company and issues management for a leading New York financial services company, the primary growth area will be in working with clients based in Texas and in the energy business,” said Cox. “Despite the weak global economy, there is an economic boom in the high-growth oil and gas exploration and production business with a number of leading public energy companies expanding nationally and internationally. Cox has extensive experience in working with energy clients, including America’s Natural Gas Alliance, OPEC, Saudi Aramco, Petrobras, Exxon, Shell, Texaco, Valero, Tesoro and Peabody. He led the H&K team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to manage global communications for the Third OPEC Summit. He co-authored a global strategic communications plan for Saudi Aramco, and led a four-person H&K crisis team on site at the start of the second Gulf war. He has worked on issues management on hydrofracking and other issues for oil and gas companies.
