SHENZHEN, China--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ZTE Corporation ("ZTE"), a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, today announced that its innovative IPTV low bit rate high definition transcoding solution has been nominated for the World’s Best Component or Enabler Award by the IPTV World Forum. The ZTE solution is on display at the Mobile World Congress 2012 (MWC 2012) in Barcelona.
ZTE’s low bit rate high definition transcoding technology decreases the amount of IPTV video streams required for network transmission and lowers total cost of ownership for telecoms operators. It also enhances user experiences and decreases investment and operating costs, thereby improving returns on unit network cost.
The encoding technology of the low bit rate high definition transcoding solution also is more efficient than other solutions currently on the market. It can transport streaming HD content that would normally require 8Mbps at 3Mbps. This reduces network capacity strain and improves QoE network services.
“ZTE’s IPTV low bit rate high definition transcoding solution is a great driver for the global IPTV industry and we are honored to be nominated for this award,” said ZTE Business Products General Manager Chen Xinyu. “We continuously work to develop global IPTV technology.”
Award winners will be announced at the annual Global IP&TV Industry Awards on March 21, 2012 at the London Film Museum. Winners are selected by a panel of expert judges from television, cable and the telecommunications industry. ZTE also has been shortlisted for the Best Quality Improvement Solution Award and Best Service Growth Achievement Award.
