FALLS CHURCH, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Missile Defense Agency (MDA) awarded CSC (NYSE: CSC) a task order to support policy development, conduct training on procedures, and provide test management support to the Test Directorate. The task order, which was awarded during CSC’s fiscal 2012 third quarter, has a one-year base period with a one-year option, bringing the estimated two-year total value to $33 million. This task order was awarded under the Missile Defense Agency Engineering and Support Services (MIDAESS) contract vehicle originally awarded to CSC in 2010.
Under the terms of the agreement, CSC will support test management through all phases of the MDA test concept of operations (CONOPS) process and coordinate these activities with their engineering and ballistic missile defense systems (BMDS) programs, which also includes recommending updates. Work on this contract will be performed in Huntsville, Ala.; Colorado Springs, Colo.; and Dahlgren, Va.
“CSC has been supporting the Missile Defense Agency and its predecessors for nearly 30 years,” said Alan B. Weakley, president of CSC’s North American Public Sector Defense Group. “Leveraging our experience and specialized skill set, CSC will optimize processes, procedures, and training to prove system capability and reliability prior to deployment. The importance of this optimization is recognized at both the agency and national levels and is critical in a budget-conscious environment.”
The MDA is a research, development and acquisition agency within the U.S. Department of Defense. Its mission is to develop, test and field ballistic missile defense systems to defend the United States against all ranges of enemy ballistic missiles in all phases of flight.
