Certified Driver Record Request Now Available Online for Nebraska’s Prosecuting Attorneys

LINCOLN, Neb.--()--The Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) announced today that it is offering Nebraska prosecuting attorneys an online method for requesting Certified Driver License Records. The new service allows Nebraska’s prosecuting attorneys to go online to request records by accessing a subscriber-based system and entering information such as name, date of birth, and license number. The DMV processes the request through an Administrative Interface, and then mails the certified document to the requesting attorney. The attorney receives a monthly bill.

The new service replaces a cumbersome process that required attorneys at county and city offices to complete a paper request of a certified driver license and then mail it to the DMV. Once DMV received the requests, which could take up to a week, data entry was necessary to produce the certified documents that were returned to the attorneys.

“Not only does this service provide a more efficient process for the county and city attorneys,” said DMV Director, Beverly Neth, “it also makes my staff more efficient by eliminating data entry and time spent on the individual record request billings.”

To sign up for the new online service, a Nebraska.gov subscription is required and a sign-up form can be found at the ClickDMV portal, the Nebraska Attorney Portal and the Nebraska.gov Subscriber Portal. The DMV currently offers an online Driver License Search specific for Nebraska.gov subscribers and an online One-Time Driver License Search for non-subscribers. These two services, however, do not produce certified records. Attorneys require certified records for court purposes.
