BLUE BELL, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Halfpenny Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of clinical data exchange solutions, today announced that it has been approved as the first pilot by the Laboratory Results Interface (LRI) Pilots Work Group. The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) is evaluating the LRI protocol through proof-of-concept and feasibility demonstration pilots. Halfpenny Technologies, along with several lab and EHR vendor partners, will demonstrate the use of the LRI standard.
“We welcome the opportunity to participate in the LRI initiative in demonstrating the viability and benefits of a definitive standard,” said Charles Halfpenny, chief technology officer of Halfpenny Technologies. “Currently there are several specifications for laboratory reporting. The numerous local interpretations of the existing standards contribute to costly and time consuming implementations.”
The Standards and Interoperability (S&I) Framework Lab Results Interface (LRI) initiative, focused on ambulatory primary care providers, was created to align lab results reporting with Meaningful Use objectives.
Halfpenny will utilize its existing ITF-Hub interoperability platform to provide an innovative and cost effective approach for LRI implementations that:
- Eliminates the need for immediate LIS upgrades.
- Provides LOINC test codes, as well as SNOMED, UCUM and OID codes.
- Streamlines the connectivity between the lab and the participating practice EHR.
- Facilitates EHRs’ immediate ability to consume LRI-formatted data.
