SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--International Data Group, Inc. (IDG) has renamed its PCWorld and Macworld business unit as IDG Consumer & SMB.
"Our new name encompasses both our technology brands and marketing services and clearly identifies the audience and marketers we serve,” said Mike Kisseberth, CEO of IDG Consumer & SMB. “We offer products and services for the consumer and small/medium business (SMB) markets that go beyond the PCWorld and Macworld brands." Kisseberth has served as CEO of PCWorld and Macworld since 2007.
IDG Consumer & SMB includes a growing marketing services arm led by its Content Works group, which produces and distributes custom content for clients. In the past year, the Content Works team has worked with leading consumer and small business tech vendors, including Microsoft, Cisco, Sprint, Samsung, and Toshiba, to deliver content that connects them with their target audiences, whether on IDG sites or the marketers’ own sites and channels.
“We chose IDG because it is a global company that understands the challenges between global and local content,” explained Melissa Bannon, senior manager, Samsung Content Strategy. “Of all the providers we tested, only Content Works created expert content that was easily understood.”
Kisseberth said: "IDG Consumer & SMB will expand our market beyond PCWorld and Macworld and the name provides a closer connection to IDG’s vast portfolio of related media.” The IDG network includes PCWorld brands in 54 countries and Macworld in 11.
Jason Snell Leads IDG Consumer & SMB Editorial
Jason Snell is the new Senior Vice President and Editorial Director for IDG Consumer & SMB. Snell, previously Macworld's Vice President and Editorial Director, brings a wealth of credibility in tech media and has been a leading authority on Apple for the past decade. He led the transformation of Macworld from a print-focused organization to one that now produces an award-winning web site, a series of electronic books, podcasts and videocasts, and iPhone and iPad apps.
“Jason has a passion for technology that is matched by his enthusiasm for digital media as a journalist and a leader of journalists,” said Kisseberth. “He is ideally suited to foster the growth of our portfolio to serve the consumer and SMB markets.”
