Terremark Completes Major Expansion of Colombian Data Center

World-Class Facility in Bogota Now One of the Largest, Most Connected Multi-Tenant Data Centers in the Country

MIAMI--()--To meet continuing strong customer demand for its IT infrastructure solutions in Latin America, Terremark, a Verizon Company, today announced the completion of the latest expansion of its Bogota, Colombia data center, the Network Access Point (NAP) of the Americas-Colombia. The newly expanded cloud-enabled facility has doubled in size to approximately 10,000 square feet of data center floor space since its opening in 2008 and is considered one of the most connected data centers in Colombia.

The expansion of Terremark’s Bogota facility is part of a global strategy to make advanced IT solutions available through its network of nearly 50 strategically located data centers around the world. Through its NAP of the Americas-Colombia and NAP of Brazil facilities, Terremark collectively offers more than 50,000 square feet of raised data center floor space in Latin America.

“In the last six months, Terremark has completed the expansion of four strategically-located data centers, two of them in Latin America,” said Nelson Fonseca, president of Terremark. “The NAP of the Americas-Colombia’s growth is aligned with our plan to make our unique IT portfolio available across the globe, and the newly expanded NAP strengthens Terremark’s presence in this high-demand region.”

The NAP of the Americas-Colombia is located in Bogota’s Free Trade Zone and offers customers direct access to 15 major carriers in the region and more than 160 carriers through Terremark’s NAP of the Americas in Miami. The data center in Colombia delivers the company’s highly secure IT infrastructure services in a world-class facility that features redundant power and cooling systems, as well as robust physical security, to protect customers’ mission-critical applications.

“Colombia is quickly becoming one of the most important hubs for the IT industry in Latin America,” said Rodolfo Garcia, head of Verizon’s Latin American Terremark operations. “Multinationals are expanding to this region where the economy is growing and there is a strong demand for our enterprise-class cloud computing solutions.”
