KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Tweetalicious, the shopping discovery engine on Twitter, today announced its board of advisors will include:
- Don Albert, former vice president and general manager of Skype
- Siva Kumar, chief executive officer of TheFind.com
- Brock Weatherup, chief executive officer of Pet360
“The expertise Don, Brock and Siva bring will help greatly as we continue to improve our products and approach to connect consumers with brands,” said Jose Mallabo, chief executive officer, Tweetalicious. “They are all proven entrepreneurs and leaders of high-growth Internet businesses – and their addition to the Tweetalicious team validates our direction.”
The board of advisors will provide Tweetalicious management with counsel on its mobile and Web product road map, business development and overall business strategy.
“Consumers and retailers blast out more than 250 million tweets a day,” said Mallabo. “We’re giving people a way to cut through that noise with user preferences and our Deal Me! button that lets them discover content from brands they love in a fun way -- because relevance matters.”
The company pointed to the following trends as drivers for Tweetalicious:
- One of the primary reasons consumers use social media is to take advantage of special offers and discounts.
- In 2010, the U.S. e-commerce market was approximately $180 billion and is projected to hit nearly $300 billion by 2015.
- A recent Shop.org survey found that 42 percent of online consumers have followed a retailer through Facebook, Twitter or a retailer's blog.
- Continuing growth in the retail sector despite tough economic conditions.
Prior to Tweetalicious, Mallabo was director of digital and social marketing at GSI Commerce. Before that, he held international and global corporate communications positions with LinkedIn and eBay Inc.
