First To File Announces Automated USPTO Document Download for USPTO Private PAIR System Users

Easily configurable, automatic synchronization streamlines e-Office Action process

SAN MATEO, Calif.--()--First To File® (FTF), a leader in web-based IP management technology, announces the upcoming release of the USPTO Document Download Tool that enables customers to automatically receive and file their USPTO correspondences for pending patents directly into FTF’s Electronic File Room (EFR) system.

This new application saves time and increases efficiency by synchronizing patent documents between the USPTO Private PAIR system and a customer's patent portfolio managed in EFR. The USPTO Private PAIR system stores critical, time-sensitive patent correspondence and documents related to patent filing. Regular mail and e-Office Actions, which are the default ways to correspond with the USPTO, create significant administrative overhead for most patent teams. Access to the tool is based on the customer’s login and password; it can be set to run in the background, synchronizing information based on each customer’s unique business process.

Highlights of the USPTO Document Download Tool:

  • Documents are synchronized automatically in the First To File trifold interface, saving significant administrative time
  • Patent documents are automatically inserted into the correct file and location within the First To File system, reducing errors and increasing reliability for patent prosecution
  • Backup copies of critical documents are created between the USPTO and First To File’s EFR system, which reduces lost or missing files
  • The tool can be set to synchronize in the background or in off-hours according to each customer’s business requirements
  • Alerts can be configured to notify the appropriate owner(s) of the availability of documents in the EFR system

First To File CEO James P. Bergeron explains, “The First To File USPTO Download tool has been designed to help our customers handle the USPTO correspondence process more efficiently and productively. I’m proud that FTF continues to lead the industry toward a more secure, reliable and cost-effective workflow for all IP management.”

Availability

The USPTO Download tool is set to be released in early 2012. For more information, visit www.firsttofile.com or email Kurt Wedel at kwedel@firsttofile.com.
