Fulbright & Jaworski Names 10 New Partners

HOUSTON--()--Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P. has promoted seven senior associates and three senior counsel to join the firm’s global partnership. The appointment of new partners in the firm’s London and Riyadh practices, alongside eight new partners based in Fulbright’s offices across the United States, reinforces further Fulbright’s international reach and global expertise.

The new partners are: Tonja De Sloover, Houston; Sarah Devine, Washington, D.C.; Sam Eversman, Riyadh; Kristian Gluck, Dallas; John Jennings, San Antonio; Michael Loesch, Washington, D.C.; Michael Pikiel, New York; Miriam Quinn, Dallas; Anita Tarar, Dallas; and Jehan-Philippe Wood, London.

Energy & Real Property

Sam Eversman handles a wide variety of international transactions, including agency/distribution and joint ventures, as well as local income tax and labor/immigration assistance for clients doing business in the Middle East. He has more than 20 years' experience in the Middle East, including as a resident in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Turkey. A frequent speaker on various Middle East business and regulatory topics, Eversman received both his J.D. and B.S. from Indiana University.

John Jennings focuses on commercial real estate matters and economic development incentives. As a member of the Real Estate practice group, he represents firm clients in connection with all facets of the acquisition, disposition, financing, development, leasing, and operation of all types of real property, including matters relating to loan workouts and foreclosures. Jennings received his J.D. from St. Mary’s University School of Law and his B.S. from Texas A&M University.

Michael Loesch advises corporations and individuals on commodities and securities litigation and enforcement, regulatory compliance and corporate internal investigations. He previously served in senior leadership positions at the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Loesch received his J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law and his B.A. from Pennsylvania State University.

Corporate

Sarah Devine has extensive experience representing clients on a variety of cross-border corporate and commercial law matters and international project financings. She is a member of Fulbright’s Corporate and Project Finance practice groups. Devine has been an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University Law Center, teaching International Business Transactions. She received her J.D. from Stanford Law School, her B.A. from Oxford University and her B.S. from Georgetown University.

Anita Tarar focuses on corporate finance transactions, representing borrowers, lenders and other investors in a variety of debt financings. Her representative experience includes private equity sponsor and portfolio company-related financings, restructurings and bankruptcy-related financings and general corporate financings. Tarar received her J.D. from Stanford Law School, her M.A. from the University of Texas at Austin and her B.A. from Johns Hopkins University.

Litigation

Tonja De Sloover handles complex commercial cases, including a large docket of construction disputes. She has first-chaired multiple cases before a judge and a jury. Her experience also includes handling construction arbitrations, mediations and international arbitrations. From 2008 to 2009, De Sloover was seconded to Fulbright’s London office, where she worked on U.K. litigation and investigations matters and qualified as a Solicitor. She received both her J.D. and B.S. from the University of Iowa.

Jehan-Philippe Wood’s practice is comprised of a mix of general commercial litigation, insurance litigation, arbitration, corporate investigations and regulatory work. He works with the firm’s clients in the banking, insurance, professional services and oil and gas industries. Wood received his law degree from Christ Church, Oxford and completed his legal practice course at the College of Law. He is admitted to practice in England and Wales.

Bankruptcy

Kristian Gluck has a diverse, sophisticated practice ranging from representing creditors, such as banks, hedge funds and large institutional lenders, to debtors and committees in complex restructurings and reorganizations, both in and out of bankruptcy court, and related litigation. His experience includes nationally significant cases involving energy companies. Gluck received his J.D. from George Mason University School of Law and his B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Intellectual Property

Miriam Quinn is a litigator with a focus on technology and intellectual property matters. She regularly handles patent infringement lawsuits in Texas and throughout the U.S. and has extensive experience in a wide variety of technologies and industries. She also advises technology companies concerning enforcement and defense related to patents and trademarks. Quinn received her J.D. from St. Thomas School of Law and her B.S.E.E. from Florida International University.

Public Finance

Michael Pikiel has significant experience in public-private partnerships, project finance and public finance. He has represented a wide range of clients, including private equity infrastructure funds, energy companies, developers, financial institutions and government entities, in energy and infrastructure transactions. Pikiel received his J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law and his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania.
