IQMS surpassed three other final vendors, Microsoft Dynamics AX, Plex and QAD, to partner with Gill Industries.
Gill Industries’ legacy system, MAPICS from Infor, was disjointed, highly customized and lacking in integrated functionality. Relevant data necessary to support critical business decisions was cumbersome to extract and as a result, employees were forced to develop disjointed spreadsheets and workarounds. Additionally, Gill Industries’ plant in Mexico was on a separate ERP system, further contributing to the islands of information and multiple data entry points.
After reviewing its legacy software, Gill Industries determined that support and customization was not adequate enough and even with upgrades and a significant investment in third party applications, the systems would not be streamlined or effective enough for its needs. Gill Industries established six critical criteria when searching for a new ERP solution: total cost of ownership, ease of use, industry fit, product viability, technology architecture and service and support. Not only did IQMS score very high in each criteria category, but it also offered the highest level of integration between modules relevant to Gill’s industry.
