WESTBOROUGH, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Courion Corporation, the leader in identity and access management for access risk, today announced it has added two senior positions to its executive team and filled them with proven technology industry veterans to support the company’s international growth, new product development and delivery channel expansion.
Courion has named 35-year technology industry veteran Dave Fowler to the newly created post of chief operating officer. Fowler is responsible for engineering, product planning and management, marketing, the Courion Labs research operations, and the software as a service (SaaS) operations.
Fowler brings to the position decades of experience in enterprise software, security technologies, applications and networking. He has held operational, marketing and product development positions at technology companies such as SilkNet, Kana, Sun Microsystems, VidSys, and Groove Networks, and has played a leading role in mergers, acquisitions and IPOs. Fowler holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a master’s degree in business administration from New York University.
The identity and access management (IAM) market has been growing steadily as more companies in more industries make investments to secure their vital IT assets from theft and misuse by more closely managing user access. Courion launched a major effort this year to re-define IAM software with its Access Risk Management Suite, which provides a simple and fast time-to-value alternative to the complexity and high cost of typical IAM solutions. It is available as on-premise software or as a pay-as-you-go SaaS (software as a service) offering called CourionLive™.
Courion also appointed longtime high-tech financial executive Scott Caswell to the newly created position of vice president of finance. Caswell is responsible for financial and operational areas such as accounting, financial planning, analysis and treasury. He has more than 25 years of finance and operations experience, most recently at global information services management company Iron Mountain. He has held leadership and senior management positions at Intel, Sun Microsystems, Shiva Corporation, M/A-COM and Connected Corporation. He holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell and a master’s in business administration from Rivier College.
“Courion is in a dynamic market that is rapidly changing to address new security challenges as well as the impact of new IT technologies such as mobile and cloud computing. With Dave and Scott in their respective roles, we’ll be expanding our management experience to leverage our growth and drive our new SaaS offering, Access Risk products and Access Intelligence products,” said Christopher Zannetos, president and CEO of Courion.
