Encase wires or hide them behind furniture. Candles should never be left unattended and the food-scented variety should be avoided. Keep Hanukah candles out of the reach of your pet.
Food: Feed your pet treats, not human food. Chocolate contains theobromine, which can be poisonous. When you make a toast to your new pet, make its drink water. Alcohol can be very harmful all breeds.
Visitors: Unfamiliar faces and constant doorbells can be stressful. Opened front door can result in your dog running outside, and go missing during the holidays. Identification tags and micro chipping ensures that if your dog gets lost, he/she can be located. Like humans, some pets love visitors while others may be fearful. Know your pup and plan accordingly.
Travel today can be stressful for your puppy. Make sure to have a Pet Safety Checklist: Keep pet tags current; have a picture of pets in your wallet and cell phone; pack medicine and a first aid kit; carry both a short and long leash.
