LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Break Media, a leading creator and publisher of digital video content, today announced the hiring of entertainment veteran Mitch Rotter as senior vice president and general manager of editorial properties. In this new role, he will work with the editorial staffs of all Break’s Web properties, including number one humor site break.com, MadeMan and Gamefront; to help drive the editorial direction and ensure it aligns properly with overall corporate marketing and sales objectives.
Rotter comes to Break from his position as SVP of Marketing and Product Development for Universal Music Group, the world's leading music company which features vaunted labels such as Island Records, Interscope and Motown Records; and artists such as Lady Gaga, Eminem and Rihanna. In his role at UMG, Rotter oversaw central marketing for all UMG products as well as the development of new products, services, marketing tools and systems. Prior to his work at Universal, Rotter held senior-level positions at Thumbplay, Inc., New Line Cinema and Capitol Records. The Wisconsin native holds a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Southern California.
“With a wealth of marketing and product development experience in entertainment, Mitch brings industry pedigree and a unique perspective to our editorial teams,” said Keith Richman, CEO of Break Media. “We want to develop large scale, editorially compelling content packages that excite our audience as well as our advertising partners, and Mitch’s ability to think big will absolutely help us get there.”
Rotter’s hiring comes on the heels of Break Media expanding its executive team throughout the 2011 calendar year. The company’s senior team added Chief Financial Officer Andrew Doyle from Activision-Blizzard and Chief Technology Officer David Subar from Oversee.net in May. Previously, the company had hired former Endeavor talent agent Greg Siegel to develop original content partnerships with the entertainment community.
In the last year, Break Media has expanded into the 22nd largest video property in the US and a top-five video ad network reaching 120 million viewers. Break.com currently tops comScore’s rankings for Internet comedy destinations, and the company’s in-house Creative Lab has created thousands of original videos this year.
