ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Capsalus Corp. (OTCBB:WELL) announced that Gary Danielson and Bernie Kosar, former quarterbacks in the National Football League and teammates with the Cleveland Browns during the 1980s, are joining forces again - this time to help propel the health and wellness company to the next level of success.
As Founding Ambassadors of Capsalus, they will lead an internal task force charged with promoting the company’s health and wellness businesses, bringing their collective leadership, operational expertise, strategic contacts and financial resources to support the company’s growth plans. Earlier this year, Danielson and Kosar supported the financing of Capsalus’ acquisition of GeneWize Life Sciences, Inc., formerly the direct selling subsidiary of leading consumer genomics biotech company GeneLink Biosciences, Inc.
The former athlete who has since turned to the corporate playing field, Kosar now tackles business opportunities as an advisor, corporate officer and director of a number of enterprises. He and Danielson, now a college football analyst with CBS Sports, will be integral in assisting the company’s senior management in all facets of the company including capitalizing on trends, developing and launching new initiatives, completing additional acquisitions and building strategic partnerships. They will also continue to tap resources and leverage their relationships from both the professional sports arena and business world in generating awareness and supporting growth opportunities for the company.
“Bernie and I have been looking for the right opportunity to team up in business and achieve a new kind of success together for a long time now,” said Danielson. “In Capsalus we’ve found a strong management team with which to collaborate, a dynamic portfolio of early stage businesses we can help, and a platform for promoting health, wellness and goodness at the right time.”
Added Kosar, “Gary and I have maintained a loyal friendship and mutual respect for one another that has transcended our football playing careers for 25 years. I’m looking forward to tackling this new professional challenge together.”
“Beyond the expertise Gary and Bernie have demonstrated as business executives since retiring from the NFL, the tremendous drive and life-long leadership qualities they bring to Capsalus are invaluable at this time of rapid growth for our company,” said Capsalus interim CEO Steve Grubner. “Furthermore, they are both innovative thinkers whom we feel will have a significant impact on the cutting-edge businesses in our family of companies.”
In addition to GeneWize, Capsalus has partnered with and operates companies across the consumer products, media and technology, biotechnology and healthcare industry spectrum, including Wish Upon a Hero, the world’s largest online social helping network, connecting people in need with people who can help; Guava Healthcare, specializing in customized in-home, non-medical and medical staffing and services to clients across the age spectrum, listed among Entrepreneur's “Franchise 500” this year and last; White Hat Brands, an emerging player in the branded consumer products market; and PanTheryx, creating and selling biologics, pharmaceuticals and medical products to the expanding healthcare professional market in India.
