BMC Software Announces Application Performance Management Capabilities for Faster Problem Resolution

New capabilities provide comprehensive root cause and impact analysis for complex applications and services

HOUSTON--()--BMC Software (NASDAQ:BMC) today announced the availability of new innovations that strengthen its Application Performance Management solution to accelerate problem detection, isolation and resolution. With these new capabilities, organizations can proactively detect and quickly isolate the root cause of problems from the end-user perspective.

Many IT operations teams struggle to deliver a consistent, high-quality end-user experience. Rising customer and business demands, such as mobile, virtual and cloud technologies, coupled with increasingly complex applications, are now challenging IT to get ahead of issues and identify potential problems before they negatively impact end users and the business.

In response to this challenge, BMC is introducing new capabilities for its Application Performance Management solution, including:

  • Real-time predictive analytics for end-users: Enables earlier detection based on real-time behavior using end-user metrics, as well as up to 90 percent faster problem prioritization and resolution based on more accurate root cause and service impact analysis resulting from broader statistical correlation that connects end-user metrics with all monitored assets.
  • Enhanced end-user experience management for mobile users: Extends BMC End User Experience Management visibility to mobile users, resulting in a better understanding of the impact of mobile devices on end-user performance. Operations can quickly compare mobile versus non-mobile user performance using pre-configured watch points and dashboard templates.
  • Collaborative application mapping: Simplifies and speeds up the mapping process by 50 to 60 percent for complex multi-tier applications and improves the accuracy of service impact and root cause analysis. Application owners can now provide basic information, such as the application name and components, to enable BMC Atrium Discovery and Dependency Mapping’s search and query building capabilities to automatically create a dynamic application map that reflects, in real-time, changes in the IT environment.
  • Centralized management and administration: Provides centralized visibility into all of the application performance management data being collected and analyzed across the enterprise. A new scalable, unified administrative console makes it easier to deploy and manage multiple analyzers and collectors, while processing large volumes of performance data, from a single, centralized location. This reduces costs and streamlines efforts so that organizations can spend more time focusing on performance issues with their business critical applications rather than managing monitoring tools.

“Wayfair is in the business of giving our customers easy online access to the world’s home goods in one place. Given that we release new products every day, every hour, we simply can’t afford to wait 20 minutes before realizing a recent change has introduced a performance problem,” said Steven Conine, co-founder, Wayfair. “With BMC End User Experience Management, we can catch issues with inventory, order processing, or any other aspect of our services within a couple of minutes, which gives us a huge business advantage.”

“The combination of Behavior Learning Engines and Application Performance Monitoring provide insight into problem detection, while avoiding complex configuration and tuning,” said Jonah Kowall, research director at Gartner, Inc. “The pairing of the end-user experience dimension of the Application Performance Management solution with the IT Operations Analytics technologies reduces the time to diagnose and resolve issues, while also providing visibility into usage and user interaction with the application estate.”

“With this announcement, BMC is advancing application root cause analysis – extending operations teams’ ability to perform root cause analysis across all monitored assets,” said Ali Hedayati, vice president of End User Management Application Performance Management, BMC Software. “Using our analytics-based approach, organizations gain earlier and broader visibility into application performance from the real end-user perspective; resulting in a more proactive approach to application performance management, which ultimately helps operations teams identify and avoid potential problems with business-critical applications as they start to happen.”

BMC’s comprehensive end-to-end Application Performance Management offering helps organizations exceed service levels and avoid costly application failures for mobile and desktop users across complex applications and services delivered via cloud, internet, corporate networks and content delivery networks. The new Application Performance Management features are available today.
