NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Deutsche Bank’s Insurance Asset Management business has expanded its Insurance Managed Equities (IME) team with the hire of Xiaoyu Liu as a Portfolio Manager and Director in New York. Liu reports to Di Kumble, a Managing Director and Head of the IME portfolio team. Along with the rest of the team, Liu is responsible for managing the division’s $6.5bn IME portfolios.
Tax managed equities are a growing part of the alternative investments offering that Deutsche Insurance Asset Management provides insurers and other institutional investors. The team uses sophisticated quantitative modeling to build portfolios that are mapped to the specific needs of investors in three equity categories: passive, dividend tilt and active.

Over the past year alone, Deutsche Insurance Asset Management’s managed equities’ assets under management have increased by 35%.
Liu joins the Bank from Columbia Management Group where she was a portfolio manager responsible for tax-efficient U.S. and global equity strategies. Prior to that, she was a quantitative research analyst at Citigroup Asset Management.
Liu earned an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management, an MS in Mathematics from Vanderbilt University, with a concentration in Numerical Mathematics and Computer Aided Geometric Design, and a BS in Mathematics from Campbellsville University, KY.
