SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Xi3 Corporation today announced its first Enterprise Class products, each designed with the modularity of the Xi3® Computer Architecture and each designed for use by businesses and organizations.
Xi3’s first Enterprise Class products include
- Xi3’s first server—the Xi3 microSERV3R™,
- Xi3’s first server rack systems—the Xi3 dataCENT3R™ product line, and
- Xi3’s first search appliance—the Xi3 APPITUR3™.
Xi3 microSERV3R Overview
In summary, the Xi3 microSERV3R (with SERV3R pronounced like server) is housed in the same cube-like chassis as the Xi3 Modular Computer and it utilizes the same dual-core processor. But the microSERV3R is populated with
- One (1) 10Gb Fibre Channel port,
- Two (2) 1Gb Ethernet ports,
- Four (4) eSATAp ports (can also be used as USB 2.0 ports),
- Two (2) USB 3.0 ports,
- Four (4) USB 2.0 ports,
- One (1) Display port (can also be used as an HDMI port), and
- One (1) Mini Display port.
Housed in a cube-like aluminum chassis measuring less than 4-inches per side or ~50 cubic inches, the microSERV3R takes up less than five percent (5%) of the space of a standard 1U server measuring 19- x 1.75- x 36-inches (width-height-length). Additionally, the microSERV3R uses 40 Watts of electricity versus an average of 400 Watts or more required to run a 1U dual-core server. The microSERV3R also weighs less than 3 pounds, as little as 1/10th the weight of most 1U servers.
Xi3 dataCENT3R Overview
Although the microSERV3R can be used in any server or data storage environment, Xi3 dataCENT3Rs (with CENT3R pronounced like center) are designed specifically for use with the Xi3 microSERV3R. Available in two flavors—Personal and Mobile—each dataCENT3R is equipped with specially designed mounting systems to allow microSERV3Rs to be easily installed inside or removed from the dataCENT3Rs.
The Mobile Xi3 dataCENT3R is a motorized and steerable half-height (24U) server rack system with forced air cooling that measures approximately 24- x 60- x 66-inches (width-height-length) and can hold up to 224 Xi3 microSERV3Rs. This is nine times (9X) the amount of 1U servers that can fit into a standard half-height server rack.
Additionally, there are two initial versions of the Personal Xi3 dataCENT3R. Both measure 16-inches wide so they can be mounted between wall studs in a home or office wall, and they hold up to three or nine microSERV3Rs, respectively.
Xi3 APPITUR3 Overview
Pronounced app-it-CHUR, the Xi3 APPITUR3 search appliance crawls, indexes and returns search results faster and more accurately than other search appliances. And in much the same way that an aperture allows more or less light to be captured by a camera lens, the Xi3 APPITUR3 allows users to shed more or less light on the data being searched.
Specifically, the Xi3 APPITUR3
- Is up to 10 times faster (10X) at crawling and indexing data files,
- Finds data 10-100 times faster (10X—100X) on a Query Per Second (QPS) basis,
- Needs 1/10th the electricity to operate, and
- Weighs 1/10th the weight and measures 1/10th the size
Of competing search appliances in the marketplace.
Based upon the number of documents to be indexed and searched, the Xi3 APPITUR3 will be priced as low as 1/10th the cost of other search appliances. The Xi3 APPITUR3 can be used across multiple data types stored in one or more locations (including across the Internet), with indices based in RAM or long-term storage. Organizations can also easily define boundaries regarding which employees can use the APPITUR3 or have access to what data, either for index or query purposes.
