SMITHFIELD, R.I.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Gargoyles Performance Eyewear is pleased to announce that Boston Red Sox first baseman and Gargoyles ambassador, Adrian Gonzalez, won his third Rawlings Gold Glove Award® and first Louisville Slugger® Silver Slugger™ award for his performances this season. This is the first American League Gold Glove for Gonzalez, having won his previous two while with the San Diego Padres in 2008 and 2009.
The winners for both of these awards are chosen by the coaches and managers from within the league. The Gold Glove marks defensive excellence on the field, while the Silver Slugger is for top-level achievement in offensive production. Gonzalez finished the season with a .338 batting average, 27 homeruns and 117 RBI’s. In the field, Adrian had only four errors in 1351 chances.
Gargoyles, a brand well known for its high-performance eyewear, congratulates Adrian Gonzalez for his performance on the field in 2011. Gonzalez, who is also a three-time All-Star, joined the Gargoyles team earlier this year, appearing in Gargoyles’ print and outdoor campaigns including Men’s Journal and Outside Magazine, and an outdoor campaign centered in the Boston market.
“The Gold Glove award is for the guys that are the best of the best when it comes to defense on the field. As a ballplayer, Adrian shares Gargoyles’ attributes of reliability and performance in critical situations, just two of the reasons we asked him to join our team this year,” stated Scott Sorensen, Gargoyles Brand Director.
Gargoyles revolutionized the eyewear industry with the invention of the polycarbonate Toric lens, a technology that provides up to 210º of seamless, ballistic-rated impact-resistance and crystal-clear optics. Gargoyles Mission Series Lenses incorporate image-intensifying technologies to provide clearer and sharper vision, without optical distortion. The brand’s signature green field of play lens, available on select models, is specially tailored to accommodate sports and outdoor activities where tracking objects in motion is critical.
In addition to Gonzalez, Gargoyles is supported by a team of ambassadors who represent the brand’s commitment to performance, from professional off-road racers and predatory animal experts to former elite members of the United States military and the brand’s own Gargoyles Action Shooting Team. Diverse in nature, the common theme is that when performance eye protection matters, they choose Gargoyles.
