Research and Markets: Shanghai Jiading Automobile Industrial Zone - In 2009, Shanghai International Automobile City Generated RMB 115.38 Billion In Gross Industrial Output

Shanghai Jiading Automobile Industrial Zone (Shanghai Jiading AIZ), rated BBB by China Knowledge. The industrial park is located in Jiading District in the northwestern part of Shanghai, was approved as a municipal-level development zone by the municipal government of Shanghai in 2006. Covering an area of 100 sq km, Shanghai Jiading AIZ consists of Shanghai International Automobile City, Automotive Components Supporting Park (Shanghai ACSP), Jiading Huangdu Industrial Zone (Jiading Huangdu IZ) and Jiading Nanxiang High-tech Park (Jiading Nanxiang HTP).

Shanghai International ACSP, formerly the Volkswagen Industrial Park, was built in the southern part of Shanghai in 1998. Jiading Huangdu IZ is situated near the Jiading-Tianjin Highway, State Highway 315 and the Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway. Shanghai Tongji University borders the zone in the west.

Shanghai ACSP, the main part of Shanghai Jiading AIZ, encourages investment in auto parts and automobile-related industries. Firms in the park are involved in making car doors, chassis systems, security systems and interior decoration systems, among other things.

Industrial parks rated BBB are considered attractive at an average level. They have less-than-adequate investment conditions and may have some flaws. They may be promising industrial parks but there are uncertainties regarding future development. Most of these are industry specific theme park that caters to fewer industries. There are 60 such BBB rating out of 254 national or municipal-level industrial parks where many are seeking to transform or upgrade its facilities to attract new economy industries.
