NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The New York Life Foundation today announced $750,000 in support given to 22 bereavement providers that serve grieving children across the country. The funding will be given over a two-year period and range from $5,000 to $100,000. The grants support the expansion of grief support services to diverse and disadvantaged youth across the country.
The winning providers all responded to a request for proposals created through a partnership with the New York Life Foundation and the National Alliance for Grieving Children (NAGC).
“This partnership with New York Life Foundation enables us to promote awareness of the needs of children and teens grieving a death and to expand the reach of grief support services provided locally throughout the country,” said Andy McNiel, executive director, National Alliance for Grieving Children.
“The New York Life Foundation partnered with the NAGC to expand the accessibility of bereavement services to grieving youth and their families across the country in areas that have been underserved,” said Chris Park, president, New York Life Foundation. “The Foundation has been focused on the issue of childhood bereavement since 2008, and we are pleased to strengthen one of our core focus areas on a national level and support communities that will benefit from the additional assistance.”
