Roving Networks’ Bluetooth module reduces design effort and development time by managing the iAP interface, allowing developers to focus effort on their application. Authentication management and negotiation is handled directly by the Roving module.

In addition to the iAP protocol, Roving’s Bluetooth solutions also support the Human Interface Device (HID) profile, Serial Port Profile (SPP) and Host Controller Interface (HCI). Roving’s Bluetooth modules are used in 1000’s of devices to communicate with smart phones, computers and other Bluetooth enabled platforms. Roving Bluetooth modules are available in class 1 (RN-41-APL) that offers over 100m range or class 2 (RN-42-APL) which offers 30m range.

The Roving Networks’ Bluetooth development kit for use with iPhone, iPad and iPod is priced at $695 USD. The kit includes both hardware and software for developing a system prototype. The development board is comprised of the Roving module, authentication hardware, status LEDs and interface headers for quick prototyping. An additional four Bluetooth modules are also provided for use with pilot PCBs during the development phase. Source code to the Roving Networks terminal emulator App, BlueConnect, is also provided and available royalty free to all development kit users as a basis for their end application.
