BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--FirstFuel Software, the building energy analytics company, today announced that Phil Giudice, the former commissioner of the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources (DOER) and state Undersecretary of Energy, has joined the company’s Board of Directors. As a member of the FirstFuel Board, he will help drive the strategic direction and continued growth of the company. FirstFuel recently announced the close of a $2.4 million initial round of financing.
With more than 30 years of experience, Mr. Giudice is widely recognized as a leader in the U.S. energy industry. He currently serves as a managing director of Rhumb Line Energy LLC, a strategy consultancy focused on the commercialization and deployment of clean energy technology, and sits on the Board of Directors for the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Energy Efficiency and Renewable Advisory Committee, as well as the U.S. DOE State Energy Advisory Board. Previously, Mr. Giudice served as the Governing Board chair for the Massachusetts Renewable Energy Trust, and as a Board member for the National Association of State Energy Officials.
“This is a very exciting time to join the FirstFuel team. The company has pioneered a new approach to delivering commercial building energy efficiency that will enable utilities to engage commercial customers with real energy saving opportunities – without the need for on-site visits,” said Phil Giudice. “As the company continues to generate large-scale energy efficiency across commercial building portfolios, I firmly believe that its approach will prove indispensable to the leading utilities in U.S.”
Prior to his appointment as commissioner of the Mass. DOER, Mr. Giudice served as senior vice president at EnerNOC, a leading provider of energy management applications and services for the smart grid. He also served as a senior partner and leader of Mercer Management Consulting’s global energy utilities practice. During his career he has also served on both the Boards of Directors for the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative and the National Action Plan for Energy Efficiency, and served as vice chairman for the National Council on Electricity Policy.
“Phil is a fantastic addition to our company. His experience and background in working with some of the world’s leading organizations in solving the energy efficiency challenge will be invaluable in helping guide our growth,” said Swapnil Shah, co-founder and CEO of FirstFuel Software. “His appointment will help further the FirstFuel vision of using information and analytics to drive energy efficiency scale for utilities.
