Rich Dachman to Lead 2011-2012 PMA Board of Directors

New board of directors announced in Atlanta—

ATLANTA--()--The 2011-2012 Produce Marketing Association (PMA) Board of Directors took office during PMA’s 2011 Fresh Summit International Convention & Exposition in Atlanta, Ga., USA. Chairman of the Board Rich Dachman, vice president of produce, Sysco Corp., Houston, is joined by three other officers and 29 directors.

“I’m honored to have the opportunity to serve the industry in this position, especially as PMA sharpens its focus and follows through with its rebranding, focused on growth. There’s a lot of work ahead, and I’m looking forward to the close collaboration in the coming year with my outstanding colleagues,” Dachman said. “Our industry itself is going through a reimaging as all eyes are on fruits and vegetables to solve the many dietary challenges that face our country. Our behind-the-scenes-efforts will have a big impact as we seek to increase consumption of the best and healthiest food known.”

Other newly appointed PMA officers are Chairman-Elect Jan DeLyser, vice president of marketing, California Avocado Commission, Irvine, Calif.; Secretary/Treasurer Derrick Jenkins, vice president of produce and floral, Wakefern Food Corp., Elizabeth, N.J.; and Immediate Past Chairman, Mike O’Brien, vice president of produce and floral, Schnuck Markets Inc., St. Louis; Vice Chairman Tim Riley, executive vice president, The Giumarra Cos., Los Angeles; Vice Chairman Jim Corby, vice president of produce, Delhaize America, Salisbury, N.C. Together with PMA President and CEO Bryan Silbermann, the officers comprise a seven-person Executive Committee.
