Conducted by the independent Brunswick Laboratories, the new ORAC tests dubbed ORAC5.0 by the lab, now account for five primary free radicals, instead of just the single radical, peroxyl, used in previous tests. The five free radicals included in the new tests are:

- peroxynitrate radicals
- oxide anion radicals
- singlet oxygen radicals
