TAIPEI, Taiwan--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Delta Electronics today announced its new high efficiency Delta DC Quick Charger, an advanced EV charging product from Delta EV Charging Solutions which has passed CHAdeMO certification, the global industry standard for quick charging. As an EV user operates a DC charger, the CHAdeMO standard regulates the charging interface, electrical signals, communication protocol, charging sequence, and safety mechanism. With its leading power conversion technology, the Delta DC Quick Charger provides 50-500V DC / 50kW output power and achieves a remarkably high efficiency of close to 95%, which is almost 5% higher than CHAdeMO’s certification standard and surpasses the top DC chargers available on the market today.
Dr. Herman Chang, General Manager of Delta’s Infrastructure Energy Solutions Business Group, said, “As a world-leading power management solutions provider, Delta is committed to providing the most efficient and reliable EV charging solutions, particularly our DC fast charging technology, to fulfill Delta’s mission ’To provide innovative, clean and efficient energy solutions for a better tomorrow.’ Our innovative design helps mitigate the impact of vehicle to grid and enables the growth of electric vehicles to cope with the worsening problems of global warming and the resulting climate change.”
The high efficiency Delta DC Quick Charger is designed not only to benefit charging station owners and operators by reducing their OPEX and accelerating return on investment, but also help lower power consumption for reduced CO2 emissions. It is estimated that a single high efficiency Delta DC Quick Charger, compared with a standard 90% efficiency charger, will help save up to 23 MWh of energy annually and reduce 14 tons of CO2 emissions. As the world tries every possible way to tackle the problem of energy shortage and carbon emissions, the adoption of high efficiency EV supply equipment will become critical for decision makers planning to go green and stay profitable.
In addition to its high efficiency, the Delta DC Quick Charger features RFID smart card authentication and charging circuit connectivity detection to ensure user verification and safety for EV charging. The IP55 enclosure makes it perfect for various outdoor installations and keeps it operating reliably for 24x7 charging demands. The Delta DC Quick Charger requires only 15 to 30 minutes for a single recharge. With its user-friendly interface and 12” LCD touch screen, users can easily complete charging in just a few steps. All of these advantages make the Delta DC Quick Charger a perfect choice for application in public and commercial parking lots, fleet and municipality charging stations, public transportation, highway gas stations and rest areas.
CHAdeMO was formed by The Tokyo Electric Power Company, Nissan, Mitsubishi and Fuji Heavy Industries. Toyota joined as its fifth executive member later. The CHAdeMO Association aims to increase quick-charger installations worldwide and standardize how to charge the vehicles. CHAdeMO is the abbreviation of “CHArge de MOve," equivalent to “charge for moving.”
