DUBLIN--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Research and Markets(http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/d3e355/slovakia_autos_rep) has announced the addition of the "Slovakia Autos Report Q4 2011" report to their offering.
Business Monitor International's Slovakia Autos Report provides industry professionals and strategists, corporate analysts, auto associations, government departments and regulatory bodies with independent forecasts and competitive intelligence on Slovakia's automotive industry.
On the back of strong demand in Germany and France, The Association of the Slovak Automotive Industry expects a 12% increase in automotive production in 2011, to 630,000 units. With 20% growth in vehicle production in 2010, BMI is more modest in its outlook, forecasting a 6% increase in autos production, to 590,357 units. BMI expect to a see a 2.83% increase in vehicle sales in 2011, and annual growth of around 4% thereafter until 2015.
While Slovakia has failed to attract any new entrants of late, the country's economy minister, Juraj Miskov, has expressed an interest in working with Indian automakers and component producers. Slovakia's prominence as an automotive production hub in the region should attract foreign investors, despite higher input and labour costs than in other Central and East European countries.
International automakers and suppliers have proved keen to extend their operations in Slovakia. German carmaker Volkswagen has extended continuous production at is Bratislava plant until the end of the year, and will add three new vehicles to the facility's production lines and a pressing shop in H211, as part of a five-year EUR1bn investment in Slovakia. In April, French carmaker PSA Peugeot Citron announced that it would add a new model to output at its Trvna facility in an investment worth EUR130mn. In addition, production at South Korean carmaker Kia Motors' Zilina site was up 25% y-o-y in H111, boosted by demand for its SUVs.
