MaaS360 First to Receive Federal Government Authority to Operate for Mobile Device Management

Government Embraces Fiberlink’s Cloud Service for Securing and Managing iPhones, iPads, Androids, Laptops and Desktop Computers

BLUE BELL, Pa.--()--Fiberlink®, the leader in software-as-a-service (SaaS) solutions for secure mobile device and application management, today announced that its MaaS360 platform is the first mobile device management (MDM) solution to receive an authority to operate (ATO) in accordance with the U.S. Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) by the U. S. General Services Administration (GSA). MaaS360 enables U.S. government agencies and contractors at the federal, state and local levels to manage mobile devices and workstations from the cloud while maintaining compliance with strict information security regulations.

FISMA is a federal law designed to protect information security at government agencies. It requires IT leaders at each agency to maintain precise compliance with guidelines that ensure sensitive government data is safe. As part of the FISMA assessment process, Fiberlink developed a System Security Plan (SSP) in conjunction with KPMG. HP (NYSE: HPQ) Enterprise Services independently assessed the MaaS360 Cloud Service and generated the Security Assessment Report (SAR).

MaaS360 was initially selected by the GSA in the “Cloud First” policy - the government’s cloud migration initiative - for its ability to increase efficiency and reduce federal operating costs. As an early selection in the Cloud First initiatives, Fiberlink included the proposed FedRAMP controls as part of the HP assessment in addition to the required NIST 800-53R3 moderate controls. The FedRAMP controls, once approved, will help provide a standard approach to assessing and authorizing (A&A) cloud services.

“In a crowded market of MDM solutions, Fiberlink stands out as the first and only solution to receive a Federal Government ATO, making it the best solution for government agencies, many of whom are required to comply with the highest security standards,” said David Lingenfelter, Information Security Officer at Fiberlink. “Fiberlink is uniquely positioned to provide management of smartphones, tablets and laptops while safeguarding confidential U.S. government data.”

Fiberlink has been SAS70 Type II certified for over 4 years and is an active member in the Cloud Security Alliance. With MaaS360, government agencies and companies in the private sector can benefit from the reliability and extensibility of a robust cloud-based platform to address more of their IT needs. This ATO further strengthens Fiberlink’s commitment to be a trusted provider of secure enterprise mobility management solutions to its customers.
