SAN DIEGO & BLOOMINGTON, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--On-Ramp Wireless today announced its partnership with leading meter data management system (MDMS) solution provider Ecologic Analytics. With its simple star topology infrastructure, On-Ramp’s Ultra-Link Processing™ (ULP) wireless infrastructure system works with Ecologic’s MDMS solution to provide a pre-validated, pre-integrated communications solution for multi-service utilities. Yesterday, On-Ramp announced its meter communication modules for the Smart Meter AMI space. Now, in partnership with Ecologic, On-Ramp offers a complete end-to-end smart metering solution.
The ULP system and Ecologic MDMS solution are based on the International Electrotechnical Commission’s (IEC) 61968 Part 9 interface. This interoperability standard provides a CIM (common interface model) gateway for meter reading and control data to be exchanged between On-Ramp’s ULP radio network interface (RNI) head end system and the Ecologic MDM application.
Using this standards-based approach to pre-integrate and test the systems is a fundamental principle for the strategic alliance between On-Ramp Wireless and Ecologic Analytics. The pre-integration and testing work eliminates time spent in the field building ad-hoc interfaces that extend the duration of the project.
The integration between these two systems provides functionality for electric meter data, including:
- Interval reads down to fifteen minutes
- On demand meter reads
- Firmware broadcast updates, as well as broadcast and unicast data
- Remote disconnect
“The pre-integrated Smart Meter solution we are bringing to market with Ecologic Analytics allows utility customers worldwide to take advantage of the unique technical benefits of the ULP system, enjoying significant cost savings that our simple star topology network delivers,” said Joaquin Silva, President and CEO of On-Ramp. “Working with a strategic partner like Ecologic will help speed up the adoption of our ULP wireless platform for Smart Metering. Pre-integrating the systems will help drive cost even lower for utilities, which will help them achieve a faster ROI.”
“We are pleased to be collaborating with On-Ramp to pre-integrate their solution with the Ecologic MDMS,” said John Galloway, executive vice president of business development and marketing for Ecologic Analytics. “The goal of our pre-integrated solution program is to streamline integration projects in the field and accelerate the realization of benefits of interoperable solutions when deployed.”
The pre-integrated solution for electric meter data is available today.
