National Popular Vote Initiative Launches Advertising Campaign in Harrisburg

Urges Pennsylvania Legislature to Pass Non-Partisan Electoral College Reform

LADY LAKE, Fla.--()--National Popular Vote Initiative announced an initial ten-day advertising buy in Harrisburg today, focusing on Pennsylvania opinion makers and consisting of full-page print ads and a sixty-second radio spot. Tom Golisano, national spokesperson for National Popular Vote Initiative, released the following statement.

“We agree with Republican leaders that the current system is broken. When more than 200 million Americans live in flyover states and are virtually ignored by candidates who seek the presidency, the right reform is required.

“The congressional district idea takes a bad system and makes it worse. It does not guarantee the presidency to the candidate who earns the most popular votes in all fifty states and replaces battleground states with battleground districts. We urge legislators to consider the National Popular Vote initiative as a commonsense, non-partisan reform.

“The National Popular Vote guarantees the presidency to the candidate who gets the most popular votes in all fifty states, ensures a Pennsylvania voter always matters as much as a voter in Ohio or Florida and enjoys public support from 2 out of 3 Pennsylvanians. National Popular Vote will make every voter in Pennsylvania and across America a battleground voter in every presidential election.”
