TROY, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--R3 Fusion, Inc., a clean technology company based in Rensselaer Technology Park, announced that it has received US patent number 8,003,059 dated August 23rd, 2011 and entitled “Continuous Processing Reactors and Methods of Using Same.” The patent covers the technology developed by R3 Fusion over the past several years and incorporated in the company’s SPaCeRTM systems.
The SPaCeRTM (short path condensate recovery) system is capable of high volume, energy efficient separation of pure water from a wide range of fluids including briny solutions, industrial waste streams, frac water, completion fluids in oil and gas drilling, and many others. The technology does not require chemicals or membranes to achieve water separation and has already been scaled to a commercial level.
Dr. Roshan Jachuck, R3’s founder and CTO, commented: “There is an ever-increasing emphasis on the importance of our limited fresh water resources. The ability of our technology to significantly impact the purification, reuse, recycling, remediation, and desalination of a wide range of water sources is exciting and we expect to demonstrate a number of these important applications in the coming year.”
R3 Fusion has previously announced the installation of its SPaCeRTM technology at a corn ethanol facility where it will be used to treat waste scrubber water and recover valuable water/ethanol mixtures. Earlier this quarter, the company received a purchase order from Li3 Energy, Inc. (OTCBB: LIEG) to begin development and demonstration of the technology for use in accelerating the recovery of lithium compounds from briny solutions.
