Just-Eat Expands Into South America

Partnership with RestauranteWeb continues rapid growth with entrance into booming Brazilian online takeaway market

LONDON--()--Just-Eat, the world’s largest online takeaway ordering service, has partnered with RestauranteWeb, Brazil’s leading online delivery provider. The partnership means that RestauranteWeb will become part of the Just-Eat Group, with the new team reaching over 1,000 restaurants in Brazil initially.

The partnership is the first of its kind by a European company in Brazil’s burgeoning e-commerce market, and marks the beginning of a period of multi-million dollar investment in the country by Just Eat.

RestauranteWeb was founded in 2004 by Luiz Jares and Marco Corradini. Jares commented “We’ve always known the huge potential online takeaway has in Brazil, and as the leading provider of food ordering services we are in a prime position to capitalise. Being part of the Just-Eat Group means that we will be able to offer both existing and new restaurant partners an enhanced service that will allow them to serve more customers than ever before.”

Former Google and MySpace executive Emerson Calegaretti will lead Just-Eat Brazil as Managing Director. The deal means that Just-Eat now operates in 16 countries across four continents, working with over 20,000 restaurants taking the orders of over 5 million customers each month. It recently secured investment of $48 million from venture capitalists IndexVentures, Greylock Partners and Redpoint Ventures.
