Patton Design, Inc., Orange County’s premier Industrial Design Firm, recently received the 2011 Medical Design Excellence Award, with Gold Distinction for the design of the EV1000 clinical platform, an Edwards Lifesciences Corporation Clinical Patient Monitoring Platform.
The Gold Standard
The Medical Design Excellence Awards (MDEA) program honors medical products and devices that demonstrate product innovation, design and engineering achievement, end-user benefit, and cost-effectiveness in manufacturing and healthcare delivery. The MDEA competition is open worldwide to companies and individuals involved in the design, engineering, manufacture, or distribution of finished medical devices. The EV1000 Clinical Platform was selected after a comprehensive review by an impartial panel of third- party jurors with expertise in biomedical engineering, industrial design, human factors and medical diagnostics. The EV1000 Clinical Platform was one of the 18 of this year’s 37 MDEA-winning products to earn the coveted gold distinction.
“We are honored to have received the 2011 Medical Design Excellence Gold Award for the design of the EV1000 Clinical Platform. This award acknowledges the collaborative efforts of our engineering team and that of Edwards Lifesciences Corporation,” said Doug Patton, CEO of Patton Design, Inc. The EV1000 clinical platform is a patient-monitoring platform that is intended to show clinicians the physiologic status of their patients in critical-care settings such as the OR and the ICU. It was designed by Patton Design and manufactured and submitted by Edwards Lifesciences Corporation. “Along with Edwards Life Sciences Corporation, we have created the most advanced GUI [Graphic User Interface] in the heart monitoring industry. The physiologic status of the patient has been created in an entirely new, intuitive and meaningful way. EV1000 clinical platform offers scalability and adaptability in both the OR and ICU,” added Patton.
