Disabled National Veterans Foundation Ships $150,000 Worth of Supplies and Support for ‘Operation Stand Down Rhode Island’ this Weekend - Goods to Help Veterans Affected by State’s Unprecedented Flood Damage

WASHINGTON--()--The Disabled National Veterans Foundation (DVNF) announced today that shipments valued at close to $150,000 are being trucked to Rhode Island for the Operation Stand Down event happening this weekend. Rhode Island was hit hard in recent months by storms that dumped record amounts of rain over several days. Rivers such as the Pawtuxet River rose almost 20-feet during some storms causing unprecedented flooding in much of the New England state.

“We are proud of and thankful to our donors for giving us the ability to send so many needed supplies to help veterans in Rhode Island,” said Reagan Rivers, Chief Administrative Officer of DVNF. “Veterans facing problems have a hard enough time finding the help they need on regular days, but when mother nature causes so much damage, it is the vulnerable citizens who often get hurt the most. We hope our support helps make this weekend’s Stand Down event a huge success.”

The DVNF truckload includes essential daily items such as clothing for men and women, personal hygiene products, blankets, water and sports water bottles. The ‘Operation Stand Down Rhode Island’ organization has provided and continues to provide a place for hundreds of veterans to find essential services helping them to overcome personal, social or economic problems. The organization was founded in 1933.

“We are proud to support Operation Stand Down events across the country and have shipped hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of supplies to several states this summer and we continue our outreach this month,” said Rivers. “It is Stand Down events like this one in Rhode Island where hundreds of veterans gather for fun events and get the help they need in a community setting.”
