TORONTO & ORLANDO, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--WinMagic® (www.winmagic.com), the prominent innovator in disk encryption, will demonstrate SecureDoc with Wireless PBConnex, the full-disk encryption (FDE) solution with wireless pre-boot networking, on a Hitachi Opal self-encrypting drive at the NSA (National Security Agency) Trusted Computing Conference and Expo being held September 20-22 in Orlando, Florida (Booth 401).
Representing a quantum leap forward for data protection, Wireless PBConnex (http://www.winmagic.com/products/pbconnex), an extension to SecureDoc, eliminates the traditional barriers to implementing enterprise-class FDE by making it just as easy and cost effective to authenticate users, enforce access controls and manage end-point devices on an encrypted network as an unencrypted network. Wireless PBConnex makes it simple for authorized users worldwide to connect to the network and authenticate against the SecureDoc Enterprise Server (SES) and Microsoft’s Active Directory (AD) without a network cable and prior to the operating system loading, thereby minimizing user and system-management headaches traditionally associated with endpoint encryption.
PBConnex is fully compatible with both traditional drives and TCG Opal self-encrypting drives (SEDs), such as the Hitachi Opal self-encrypting drives. SEDs make disk encryption highly robust and completely transparent to the user by implementing encryption directly on the drive as opposed to performing encryption in a software layer. Now, PBConnex adds the ease of management and ease of use which was previously missing from SEDs – increasing productivity and decreasing user downtime to significantly increase user satisfaction and reduce the Total Cost of Ownership.
“Protecting all data is critical for any organization, its partners and its clients, but many organizations have not adopted FDE because it has traditionally been difficult to manage, difficult to use and expensive to run,” said Thi Nguyen-Huu, CEO of WinMagic Inc.. “Combining Hitachi’s TCG self-encrypting drives with WinMagic’s Wireless PBConnex eliminates the network, user and management issues which have prevented organizations from implementing enterprise-class FDE by making it just as easy and cost effective to install, deploy, manage and use encrypted devices as unencrypted devices.”
SED support is available immediately as an option for WinMagic’s full-disk encryption solution SecureDoc, which is used by thousands of the most security aware enterprises and government organizations around the world.
