Alfa Laval wins SEK 90 million natural gas order in the Middle East

LUND, Sweden--()--Alfa Laval – a world leader in heat transfer, centrifugal separation and fluid handling – has received an order from a Japanese engineering company to supply heat exchangers for a new major natural gas project in Qatar. The order value is approximately SEK 90 million and delivery is scheduled for 2012.

The order placed by JGC Corporation in Japan, consists of various heat exchangers to the Barzan Onshore gas plant, located in Ras Laffan Industrial City, north of Doha, the capital of Qatar. The Alfa Laval heat exchangers will be used for recovering energy in the gas cleaning process and for process cooling of the overall gas plant.

“Alfa Laval has a strong position in the oil and gas markets and has delivered products and solutions to Qatar’s gas fields for many years. This order confirms the continuously high activity within the oil and gas industry – and is also a direct result from our strong presence in Japan”, says Lars Renström, President and CEO of the Alfa Laval Group.

Did you know that… Qatar's oil and natural gas industries account for more than 50 percent of the country’s GDP, 85 percent of export earnings and 70 percent of the government's revenue?

The Barzan Project, managed by RasGas Company Limited, a joint venture between Qatar Petroleum and ExxonMobil, is planned to start commercial production in 2014, and produce 1.4 billion cubic feet per day, mainly for the local market. The gas comes from the Barzan North Field, discovered in 1971, which is the world's largest reservoir of non-associated natural gas
